French surfer Lee-Anne Curren has won her second European event, the BPI Cascais Girls Festival, putting her at number one in the European ratings. She claimed her victory in the last ten seconds of the final, until which point she only had one decent scoring wave - albeit a nine-pointer! She then scored an eight with moments to go, putting her in the number one spot and taking the title from Marie Dejean, who had led throughout the final. Of her win, Curren said, 'it was a tough 30 minutes but luckily I got a good wave at the start, without that I would have been stressing. When I got out of the water, I kind of knew my scores and that’s exactly what the judges gave me'.
