Day three of the waiting period for the Rip Curl Girls Pro, and heat three is on. The waves are generally around 3ft with offshore wind. Here's what's happened so far...

Heat one:
Current number two Samantha Cornish beat Hawaiian Melanie Bartels by a mere 0.75.
Heat two: Melanie Redman Carr advances ahead of Claire Bevilacqua with a score of 12.00 to Bevilacqua's 8.00. Bevilacqua would have won, but due to interference only her top score counted.
Heat three: Sofia Mulanovich convincingly defeats Jessi Miley-Dyer scoring a 9.50 - the highest score of the event so far, and the best combined heat score of the event too - 17.25.

Heat four: Wild card Alana Blanchard goes through, and ex world champ Chelsea Hedges understandably did not look happy. The first 15 minutes of their heat was flat as a lake, so the heat was restarted. Alana caught the first wave to come through - scoring 6.25, and Chelsea never quite caught up, losing out by a mere 0.25. Check out Alana's website here.
Heat five: Layne Beachley totally dominated this heat, so much so Rochelle Ballard came out early when she needed a combo score to beat Layne.
Heat six: Amee Donohoe goes through to the Quarters, getting almost twice as many rides as Rebecca Woods in their heat.
Heat seven: Silvana Lima continues her winning streak (she came second in Brazil) and takes out Megan Abubo, just.
Heat seven: The second big upset of the day. Current number one seed, Stephanie Gilmore, is taken out by Rosanne Hodge! Who goes through to the quarters, the furthest she's gone in the world tour this year.

Round three over, the event is now on hold. Here's the match ups for the quarters...

Heat # 1 Samantha Cornish AUS vs Melanie Redman-Carr AUS
Heat # 2 Sofia Mulanovich PER vs Alana Blanchard HAW
Heat # 3 Layne Beachley AUS vs Amee Donohoe AUS
