Sorry for the lack of a semi finals post, that's because, er, I overslept - they're an hour ahead in Spain you know. I can bring you the news from the semis though... Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich powered through ahead of the Brazil Pro winner Samantha Cornish with a score of 16.25 ahead of Samantha's 11.75 and she will face Silvana Lima in the final. Silvana beat Amee Donohoe in the Semis with a 13.75 to Amee's 10.
9.41am The 40 minute final is now on. This is going to be a closely contested one for sure. Silvana takes an early lead with a 7.0 wave, ahead of Sofia's 4.0...
9.49am Sofia goes into the lead with a 6.25 to add to her 4.00. Silvana Lima now has a 7.00 and a 2.00 and needs a 3.25 to get back in the lead. Both girls look like they're struggling to keep warm out there, as the water is apparently really cold. Can't be as cold as England, surely.
9.55am All change again! Silvana goes back into the lead with another 7.00. She now has a combined score of 14.00 and Sofia needs a 7.75 to get back into the lead.
10.01am Sofia manages to throw away her 4.00, only to replace it with a 4.50 - not enough to topple Silvana.
10.04am Silvana had priority, yet she gave away an amazing wave, which Sofia ripped apart, scoring a 8.50 and jumping into the lead again. An exciting final!
10.11am Only three minutes remaining, and although on 0.75 separates the women in the final, Silvana needs a 7.76 to win. A win for Silvana will push her into first place in the tour. A win for Sofia will leave Samantha Cornish in first place!
10.14am Sofia Mulanovich posts a 7.05 right near the end, extending her lead and winning the contest.
10.17am It's official, Sofia is the winner! Sam Cornish goes into the number one spot on the tour, Silvana Lima in second.
Here's what Sophia had to say about her win...'I'm so happy, it's like a dream for me, thanks everyone for watching the contest'. On facing Silvana in the final, she said 'Silvana is an amazing surfer, I knew I was going to have to step it up in the final', and she's now gunning for her second world title, saying 'bring it on'.
Silvana was pretty happy too, as she's now second place on the tour, 'it's amazing, it's awesome' and 'well done to Sofia' for surfing so well.
