Win! Five signed copies of Slam by Nick Hornby

Win_slam_nick_hornby
There aren't many novels with Tony Hawk as one of the central characters, in fact I'd be willing to wager that Nick Horby's new novel, Slam, is the only one. His first novel for teens, Slam follows sixteen-year-old skateboarder Sam as the focus of his life goes through a 360 degree rotation - from the skate park to the nappy changing table. Through it all, his hero Tony Hawk is there to guide him, albeit via his autobiography and a poster on Sam's bedroom wall.

Whether you're a teen or not, this novel has themes that we can all identify with (not least fear of smashing your teeth out in a skate park) and will have you have you page-turning for hours to find out how Sam (one of the most believable characters I've ever had the pleasure of meeting) copes with fatherhood, and what sage advice the Tony Hawk poster will impart next.

We've got five signed copies of Slam to give away. To win, email us with the subject 'slam', and include your name and full address.

Slam is published by Penguin and priced at £12.99. Visit Spinebreakers to listen to Nick Hornby talking about the book.
