Round one has taken place, with a few surprising results already. Sofia Mulanovich, unsurprisingly, dominated, posting the highest heat score of 17.25.
'I really enjoy surfing my waves,' Mulanovich said. 'This is the first time in competition that I’ve surfed the waves that I grew up surfing. Here and Lobitos and all down this North Coast is amazing. I grew up surfing here and it’s all good.'
Surfing again in round three is previous world champion Chelsea Hedges, who lost out to Jessi Miley-Dyer and Rosanne Hodge. Also surfing again is Silvana Lima, current world number two, who lost out to Claire Bevilacqua and local wild card Anali Gomez. Another surprise round two contender is Samantha Cornish, currently world number four and winner of the Billabong Pro Brazil.

12.16pm Silvana Lima starts the heat with a great wave, scoring 8.17.
12.21pm There's still 22 minutes remaining in the heat, and already Silvana Lima has comboed her opponents, Caroline Sarran and Leilani Gryde by scoring a 6.67 on her third wave.
12.31pm Silvana Lima still leads, and the only Euro on the tour, is currently in second place with a combined score of 6.84. Interesting little tit-bit about Silvana - she apparently had a right strop when she lost to Stephanie Gilmore in Aus!
12.34pm Just had the news that round three will also run today.
