19-year-old Australian Stephanie Gilmore has taken the 2007 World Title at in the third round of the Billabong Pro Maui - the first ever surfer to win a World Title in their rookie year!
Of her win and making it into the record books, Stephanie said, "I’m absolutely over the moon, and I’m just at a loss for words".
Gilmore clinched the win after fellow World Title hopefuls Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima were both knocked out in the third round (by Keala Kennelly and Rosanne Hodge respectively), while she advanced to the quarter finals after defeating Rochelle Ballard in her last ever heat.
