Burton buys Alien Workshop and Habitat!

Burton has stepped into the skateboard market, as the original snowboard company has bought DNA Distribution and their family of core skate brands - including Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex bearings.
This follows Burton's recent aquisition of Al Merrick's Channel Islands surfboards, but will see DNA keep it's base in Dayton, Ohio, and the CEO / Co-Founder Chris Carter will continue to oversee the brands.
Is the action sports industry turning into the music industry: where all brands are essentially owned by just a few large corporates? Or, will this extra cash injection allow smaller brands to benefit from technology advances more than if they independent? Or is it just selling out? Mmmmm.... watch this space!
