Regular thrashes Goofy in Big Bear!

Kimmyjp_3

The right foot forward (aka Regular) team took home the title for the first ever Etnies and Fuel TV Goofy vs. Regular competition on Snow, on Saturday February 23 at Big Bear Mountain resort in Southern California, USA.

Kurt Hoy, Editor of Transworld Snowboard mag headed a starting team of five Regular riders (JP Walker, Austin Smith, Markku Koski, Robbie Walker and Joe Sexton.) who were set on a head to head battle with the Goofy starting five (Simon Chamberlain, Louis Vito, Kurt Wastell, Ryan Thompson and Chris Bradshaw) - led by Fuel TV's John Stouffer.

The course for the day fest was especially made by Big Bear's park crew, and included: three jumps - a cheese wedge kicker, wippy kicker and big money booter - plus a street style down rail, a big gas pipe to huge gap jump, possibly the largest double hip ever built in the states, and JP Walker's signature jib for the resort - a combination of large wooden, and small plastic covered wall ride.

Under bluebird skies and with Bear attracting more than 7000 people, open qualifiers ran between 8am to 10am, before riders then joined the pre qualified Regular and Goofy teams. Each stance then showed their best arsenal of tricks in a knock out session - the most impressive riders gaining to round three; the finals. However with the heavens opening up for the finals conditions were slippy, sticky and not condusive to the usual super pro standard many expected.

Many of the invited female riders failed to show - including Jamie Anderson, Anna-Flore Marxer, Leanne Pelosi and Nataza Zurek - with an obvious absence throughout the open qualifiers, but new DC signing Kimmy Fasani made the goofy team proud, riding solid through out the day, taking home $750, with Beverly Vuilleumier coming tops for the Regular team though, earning $1000 for being on the winning team, after stomping frontside threes, 50-50 to fs 180 on the gap tubing, plus some nice jibs on JP Walker's signature wall ride. From the guys Finnish ripper Jusso Lavisto won an $8000 chunk of the $50 000 prize purse, taking first prize and Most Valued Person award, after pulling stylish backside 7s, frontside 7s and 50-50 to 360 out on the down rail.
