One of snowboarding's most fun, and famous, events takes place this weekend, February 28 to March 2, at Northstar-at-Tahoe resort in Truckee, Northern California: The Vans Cup 2008, with a late night rail session, Slopestyle and Superpipe contests, plus Trevor Andrew's Trouble playing live. With a prize purse of $200,000 and a who's who line up of the snowboarding's finest international riders, the Vans Cup is where riders go to get noticed: Anne-Flore Marxer made her mark at the 2005 rail jam and Best All Round Event, while Laura Hadar also grabbed attention that year at the Rail Jam - while Jamie Anderson gave us a taste of what's to come in 2006.
Registration and Practice Day for Slopestyle kick off today - February 28 - at 8am, with Women's Slopestyle Prelims on Friday, plus the Rail Jam Contest at night, with Slopestyle Event and Superpipe practice on Saturday, then, finally, Superpipe and Boost High Air comp - for 40 men and 20 women, plus awards ceremony rounding things off on Sunday.
Burton pro Trevor Andrew is also in town with his band Trouble, playing the Biltmore, in near by Kings Beach, on Saturday night for a few lucky locals.
