Monday Music Club: meet Ebony Bones!

Dubbed the Grace Jones of nu rave, Ebony Bones is much more than a day glo club kid. Part punk, part performance art I was lucky enough to witness her epicness live at the Roxy Surf Book and CD launch in London a week ago. And so she gets the honour of kicking off the Nollie Monday Music Club, weekly sounds you have to here...

Created on a laptop in her bedroom, her song Don't Fart On My Heart was on regular rotation on Radio One within just a couple of months via the beauty of MySpace, leading Zane Lowe to announce it the Hottest Record In the World. The fash pack and music media alike have lapped up this East London lady, who's both an eccentric one-off, but also the personfication of London's mash of musical subcultures.

Alongside the 25 year old's backing band, complete with brass and singers / dancers, Ebony's out-there Harajuku girl meets Dance Hall Queen style is the opposite of subtle.

Her music is equally eclectic - taking bedroom beats, ska instrumentation, african style chants, reggae rhythmns, quirky indie, plus jazz and grime infused vocals, then smoothing it all out into a one rather tasty pop mix.

She dubs her look 'cartoon couture' (ala one Henry Holland) - fitting for her super animated, in your face, riotous and muchos fun live shows. See what all the fuss is about with her British Council Award winning video for Don't Fart On My Heart below. Love it!
