BRITS Quiksilver Freeski Big Air

With snow falling heavily the BRITS day four was postponed to what is technically, day five, Friday April 4th - including the final skiing comp of the week, the Quiksilver British Freeski Big Air Championships.

With a high number of entries qualification was reduced to a two run elimination round, where the best run counted. Four lady skiiers then reached the semi finals, who were then knocked down to a final two for a nail biting final - argh! Once again, after her impressive Slopestyle and Pipe performances Teri Spencer took gold with a massive stylish 360 reverse mute grab off the largest kicker. Katie Summerhayes then took second place with a 720 spin off the medium kicker.

The lads comp took the same format as the women - with a rather special final as the top four really pushed themselves on the big jumps to score very close results. However it was Devon local Joe Murrell (who I rode a lot with in Tahoe and is awesome!) who took the top spot with a perfect switch bio 900. Young ripper James Woods came second with a switch 1080 mute grab, with bronze then going to 2008 Freeski Slopestyle Champ James Webb with a switch 900 mute grab. Phew!
