Artists in Residence: The Roxy Jam art gallery Biarritz, France

In addition to awesome bands (read the music post on Nollie and watch the event video) and incredible surfing, the Roxy Jam, presented by Orange, is also a celebration of art. And so, I'm dedicating the first of our new weekly feature Artists In Residence to the painters who'll be in Biarritz from July 11 to 15.
Collated by the Grenoble based art collective Space Junk, dedicated to 'Board Culture,' the Girls by Girls exhibition showcases 100% female artists under the theme feminity and eclecticism. Among the artists showcased is Carole Bielicki (see picture 1 and 3), long supported by Roxy, she divides her time between painting and illustrating, creating acrylic based paintings on to her preferred medium of wood of dream like worlds inhabited by animals.
Sofia Maldonado (image 2) is a Puerto Rican artist living in Brooklyn, New York who specialises in mural paintings and graffiti that showcase an active urban lifestyle.
Californina artist Caia Koopman (image 4) is also obsessed with board culture – while depicting elegant female characters that explore current social issues.
