Sometimes fate intervenes to make life come full circle; given a guitar at age 12 Matt Costa shelved music (albeit temporarily) for a riskier pastime; skating. A natural talent, he quikly then turned pro - but in 2003 his career ended abruptly after a after a bad landing off a 10 stair ledge went horribly wrong.
Matt shattered his leg and was forced in 18 month recovery period. However, the Huntington Beach, California native refocused his energy back into music - writing and recording his quirky lo-fi acoustic pop into a series of demos, which first grabbed the attention of No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont, and then Jack Johnson.
After tour dates with surfing's most famous songwriter, JJ signed Costa up to label Brushfire Records to release Songs We Sing in 2006 and then this year's Unfamiliar Faces. Now on tour in the UK and US, keep reading to watch the video for his latest single Mr Pitiful and to see tour dates...
