Justine Dupont wins the ASP European Women's Champion Title

The rise of the super groms is a reality; at just 17 years old Justine Dupont was crowned the 2008 ASP European Women's Champion Title at Pantin in Spain on Sunday.

From Lacanau, France, the Rip Curl sponsored surfer won the ASP Euro title after coming second in the WQS 3-star Pantin Classic competition; with fellow Frenchie Pauline Ado also in the running, it was a close call, but it was Mademoiselle Dupont who nabbed the title with an average 15 (out of a possible 20 points) ahead after the 3 day event.

"I am so happy to get that title," Dupont told organisers. "I was not really thinking of any ratings but I figured out that I could grab the regional crown when I made the final and it is just so good to make it. It is my best result on a WQS event and we had good waves so it is even better to win the regional championship in these waves."

Still at school, and at number 4 in the ASP European Women's Junior Tour, Dupont has fufilled her promise as one of France's most talented female surfers sitting - alongside super groms Lee Ann Curren and Pauline.

"I am definitely starting to think of a career now but I will still keep my studies going," Dupont said. "Things have been going good for me and I am really enjoying my time competing."
