It's easy to forget that behind the corporate marketing that saturates today's actions sports industry, those sized athletes we see as superhuman sized endorsment tools are actually human - with their own tragedies, dramas and dreams. Pro surfer, freediver and explorer Karina Petroni aims to change that with her inspiring online series of autobiographical films - Escape The World - on surfline.com, created with Blue Rigel creations.

Although often cheesy, and a tad self-indulgent, the series is moving and Karina comes across as super passionate - about surfing, the ocean and the natural world she grew up in. The first episode Never Quit is more a slide show, and completely personal account of how she spent her childhood on the Panama Canal, then moved to Florida, after the US returned the area to the control of Panama, had a happy family upbringing and then became even closer when her father after a massive near fatal brain hemorrhage.

Episode 2, The Fear, sees her free dive with sharks - overcoming a life long fear. Episode 3, Revelation, sees Karina reflect on her experience with the sharp toothed sea dwellers. The most current episode Run River sees her exploring tropical reef breaks in stunning surroundings - all deliberately displayed to entice you to start planning a trip of your own. Jealous I maybe but inspired? For sure.
