Carissa moore leaves Roxy for red bull and nike 6.0

The incredible talent that got her snapped up by Roxy at age 8, has led Carissa Moore to negotiate the most lucrative sponsorship deal ever in Women's professional surfing, as she signs on for Red Bull, Nike 6.0 and an as yet undisclosed department store sponsor (think Shaun White and Target).

In a deal that has been estimated to be 'in the range of three-quarters of a million dollars,' says Surfer magazine, it sees Carissa leave long-time sponsors Roxy, but on amicable terms, and confirms her as the most exciting female surfer since her mentor Lisa Anderson.

"Carissa's new agreements have for the first time ever shattered the glass ceiling of surfing sponsorship, opening up new and never heard of before possibilities for other surfers to eventually emulate,” says her long time agent Bryan Taylor. “A true 22nd Century deal for the 21st Century, the unparalleled marketing power of Carissa's new family of sponsors will enable her to become one of the most brilliant points of light within the entire surfing universe.”

Moore remains humble: “We’ve just been talking a lot to Josh Kendrick at Red Bull and Jason Kenworthy at Nike and they offered a lot of exciting new opportunities. It’s just an honor to be a part of such an incredible team. It’s very humbling when you look at the caliber of the athletes Nike sponsors.”

Fronting a new generation of teen pros packed with star power, Carissa will be a 'head-to-toe' Nike rider - and the first girl to join the surf crew of Dusty Payne, Koa Smith and Nat Young. She's also the perfect pick for the Swoosh's youth focused action sports brand as she went on to win their first ASP surf comp - the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro at Trestles - in May.

Her third sponsor? So, far names are all being kept hush-hush, but apparently it's a big US department store - marking Carissa as the first a young, big-name surfer to go into the mainstream world.

Roxy are gutted, understandably, but just couldn't compete with the big bucks of corporate sports - you can read their press release online here.

One thing's for certain, whatever she does now: Carissa is going stellar...
