One of the simple truths of working behind the scenes in the snowboard industry is that, unlike female pro riders, you're judged on your work before your gender. Like in the music industry, this means that women can find success as writers and photographers on a par with guys - i.e with out gender discrimination (if the wages for photographers differed due to gender there'd be uproar - but in pro snowboarding? Women still put up with lower wages than male team mates.)
Vanessa Andrieux is one such success story; a Lausanne based snowboard photographer, this French talent spends the most of her year on a nomadic journey to mountains across the world - but spends much of her time in the French-Swiss alps. A friend of Anne-Flore Marxer she specialises in back country and has had shots in pretty much all the snow titles of the world.
And she has a new website - www.VanessaAndrieux.com - including a gallery of her gorgeous shots and a regularly updated blog. Look out for an interiew with her on Nollie very soon but for now take a look at her inspirational portfolio - you'll want to go shred immediatly.
