Amy Purdy has an incredible story. An average 19 year old, she contracted an almost fatal strain of Meningitis, which led to both her legs being amputated below the knee, her spleen being removed - then a kidney transplant from her father two years later.

The latest signing to Element Eden's Advocate programme, rather than wallow in self pity, Amy's led an inspirational life in just a few years - bringing her to star in Element's Power To The Planet campaign, with her simple slogan: "You can do what you want to with your life - you're not limited."

Seeing her life saving medical procedures as a second chance, just seven months after her double amputee operation she learnt to snowboard, competed around the US, win and then start skateboarding.

A spokesperson for the non-profit organization, Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), she also co-founded Adaptive Action Sports, got qualified as a massage therapist, moved to San Diego and started acting and modeling too.

Now, with Element behind her in this latest chapter in her incredible story, Amy can spread her message of positivity even further. I'm interviewing her soon for a certain magazine, (with short excerpt online at Nollie) but, for now, keep up to date with Amy's news on her blog amy-purdy.blogspot.com
