Britain's Jenny Jones wins X Games slopestyle gold in Aspen!!! Whoop whoop!

Britain's Billabong snowboarder Jenny Jones wins women's X Games slopestyle gold in Buttermilk, Aspen, Colorado

Ok so is this is ridiculously late (two words: Tax. Return), but how stoked was the UK's snowboarding community this week when Bristol's snowboard queen Jenny Jones won the biggest wintersports contest on the globe (bar the Olympics): the X Games Slopestyle. The first ever Brit to win a medal at the contest!

In her usual down to earth, chipper-and-stoked self, Jenny stomped a huge run in bad light and snowy conditions, after riders had tipped Jen to take gold all week in Buttermilk, in Aspen, Colorado. Owner of some of the biggest metaphorical balls in shredding Jenny's known for bold big air tricks - which was pretty useful when she stomped her run in the tricky conditions. Pretty incredible stuff, especially after X Games Big Air gold medalist Travis Rice stacked the day before - badly: enough to scare anyone shitless!

With steezy style, determination and perhaps a teeny-weeny bit of luck Jenny took the top spot with a huge frontside 7 - off the biggest X Games kicker reportedly ever been built - putting Spencer O'Brien into second. Wowsers.

This is humongous new for Jen and snowboarding in the UK in general: even the BBC and Telegraph reported on it - which sparked a fire in their forums about a lack of recognition in the mainstream media. Fingers crossed this will change soon!
