After the success of her spring summer 2009 RVCA capsule collection (in stores now), muse/model.designer Erin Wasson has inked a three year deal with the Southern Californian skate and surf co. The Autumn / Winter 2009 Southern-influenced collection is already in the bag- check out the Vimeo clip after the jump - with more of Wasson's 'obsessions with rock ‘n’ roll and classic Americana aesthetics into a detail-driven collection at once insouciantly sexy and razor-sharp' which premiered at New York Fashion Week.
But, the backlash has begun. Formerly a cult brand RVCA's hit the mainstream with mixed feelings - featured in newspapers and women's mags that usually sneer when you mention the word 'skate' here in the UK, disappointment in the brand's core fans is on the up too. Fashion critics are cynical also: with crushed velvet flares, pvc trousers, fake leather waistcoats and fishnet tops, some argue she's taken trashy too far - i.e. in the desperate ho direction. Crazy, when pieces are priced £100 - £300.
