Sneak preview: Aussie stylish surf label Insight Summer 2010
Insight is far more than being just another surf label these days. Far more street influenced than salt water, the Australian born label manages to straddle the shopping lists of high-end fashionistas and board riding ladies, who love fashion just as much as their quiver.
The day job of genius Sydney-based creative director / designer artist Natalie Wood (her side range is the more quirky Somethin Else), after the winter collection went for a dour grunge look, next year things hot up with rich, jewel colours and a more crafty, 80s feel. The first collection is apparently centres around 'Wack Rock' and 'Weirdness,' with a slacker mix of minis, leggings, acid washesm sunset, midnight and plum colours. The second is more easy-to-wear, chilled, vintage like summer threads - like shorts and worn denim.
It's a little like Matthew Williamson's 2009 collections - including t-shirts with very similar, crystal and space like designs, like his iconic shifts that appeared on Little Boots circa her album launch in spring. And, while it may look designer esque, with a high fashion feel, you know, with their practical, nature loving background, everything will be comfy as hell too.
Clothes that go from post-surf, pub, then club? Couldn't be more perfect.
