Ten years ago, JanSport rucksacks, and their unique suede bottom, were the uniform of choice for any alternative inclined kid in my school: and, despite being dragged from common room to classroom and roughed up for years, most of us still have them.
Began in 1967, it's this longevity that JanSport are celebrating by bringing selected old school designs out of the archive with their Heritage Series - handpicked designs straight from the late sixties. And, from the quirky to classic, they're make perfect Christmas presents for the outdoorsy types in your life.
The Hoss (3), £99.99, arrived in 1974 - a lightweight pack, which introduced the famed leather bottom, for added durability and reliability, and has been cherished by skaters and school kids ever since.
The oldest of the trio, the Westridge (1), £109.99, summed up 1972 with it's M*A*S*H influenced colours and innovative (at the time) side pockets, slide through straps for skis and more - perfect for heading snowboarding down alpine peaks to cycling to the shops. Forget the guys: being this practical, maybe it's time to buy yourself a present...
