What a way to start the new decade! On new year's day Oakley sent their female snowboard team, Anne Flore Marxer, Marie France Roy and Jenny Jones, plus skier Grete Eliassen, to the backcountry heaven that is Retallack, British Columbia, to shred trees and fresh snow for a week, via their own personal cat.
In what both Jenny and Marie-France have described as 'the best trip ever,' the girls were filming and shooting pictures with John Roderick of Neu Productions, producer/film maker behind Uniquely, for an as-yet unknown upcoming video project.
[Be warned: if you're stuck at work, dreaming of snowboarding powder before winter vanishes this rest of this post could make you a little sick with envy...]
With no lifts, access to the terrain was via cat - which included lunch, coffee and a personal driver, who'd drop the crew off at the peak of the forests, then pick them up at the bottom to drive back up - similar to the tractor access for some Eastern Austria secret powder stashes.
The snow gods were generous to the BC peaks, bestowing metres of fresh snow, but this also upped the avalanche risk. So the crew stuck to the trees - but found infinite amount of features to experiment with.
Jenny blogged about the trip on metrosnow.co.uk, as did John on his personal blog; it sounds like heaven - and is making me crave some powder turns like crazy.
If you want even more day dream fodder have a look at John's pics below and start salivating. Jealous much would be an understatement.
