I came across Los Angeles artist Hannah Stouffer's work a month or so ago via a random blog link and loved her dark, yet colourful and intricate illustrations. So does most of the So Cal action sports industry, as she's recently done work for Nike Snowboarding (5), Nike 6.0, Element Skateboards (4), Gnu Snowboards (1), Arts Projekts (3) and now her own signature Vans (2) high top shoe.
[Check out her work in detail after the jump...]
Influenced by both classic imagery, historical and mythological, plus contemporary sub culture trends (namely bloodthirsty horror and heavy metal), Stouffer's work manages to use loose, expressive colour, with finely detailed drawings - and has been embraced by a gamut of clients: from underground art emporiums like White Walls, Compound, Catalyst and Giant Robot; artsy bands like Au Revoir Simone and Kissing Cousins; to adding an edge to mainstream clients.
Not selling out but still raking in the spondoolies? Stouffer's a rare artist who's both talented and savvy.
