At the end of March, the second Ladies Monthly skate session took over Ladbroke Grove, London's Bay 66 skatepark for an afternoon of oestregen fuelled, four wheeled frolics.
The cream of the UK's female skate talent were out in force for the day: Lucy Adams, Georgie Winter, Sam Bruce, Maria Falbo, Helena Long, Faye Chadburn, Danielle Mellor, Danielle Gallacher and organiser/ Roxy & Vans vert rider extraordinaire Lois Pendlebury. A private park, with a mellow, positive and encouraging atmosphere made for a really fun, inspiring afternoon - with many 'firsts' being landed - from dropping into the huge vert ramp to beginner's kickflips.
We all then turned up to a neighbouring Mexican en masse - the awesome El Camino - where the Californian born, female owner was so stoked on girls skating, she gave us all a free beer and 10% off our food - which were easily the best Burritos I've had since living in the US.

A lot of the ladies had travelled from across the country to the capital's meet up, so had to exit early. But a core of us London locals then ventured out precariously into Ladbroke Grove on a Saturday night... finding ourselves in the dodgiest pub I've ever entered in my entire life.

Best described as stepping into an episode of Shameless but populated by retired gangsters and fifties throwbacks, supping our first pint, we did get a bit of abuse and a lot of staring. But weirdly things went the other way, as the in-house DJ (and skilled balloon artist) put on his best 80s cheese, and we were warmly welcomed into a regular's 60th birthday celebrations.

One local in particular was in relentless 'chatting up' mode, sharing a fair few horror stories and making some hilarious faux-pas for extra jokes... Randomness and rolling: watch the video below to find out more:
