Forget Blue Crush - First Love is the real story of three surfer girls and their collective challenge on turning their all-consuming passion for surfing into a full blown career.
A gorgeous documentary backed by Rip Curl, First Love is the story of a trio of Australian teens, who live within ten minutes of each other on Phillip Island in Victoria. The three friends may have different characters, backgrounds and goals, but all share one same focus: making surfing their life - and the ASP Women's World Tour finals in Hawaii. Jess Laign, Nikki van Dijk and India Payne have been surfing and competiting together since they were kids: First Love captures the moment when they try to turn their childhood dreams into an adult reality - the training, contests, injuries, experience and insights that they undergo while joining the ASP Women's World Tour for the first time - with the goal of heading to the championships in Hawaii.
A real insight to the world of female pro surfing - and it's increasing focus on pushing young talent to be professional earlier - the movie also features Alana Blanchard, Georgia Fish, Steph Gilmore, Bethany Hamilton, Coco Ho, Carissa Moore and Amy Stewart to reallly capture their idyllic, but high-pressured, world.
