Hipster designer of choice Marc Jacobs has teamed up with legenedary photographer Juergen Teller to release a limited collection of skateboards....
The man responsible for bringing grunge to the mainstream back in 1993, when he designed for Perry Ellis (which got him sacked), Marc Jacobs has a soft spot for skating: the brand worked with the Savannah Skate Park earlier this year to raise cash by selling a series of tees.
For his latest decks (following this year's hands one off, and his large surfboard range) the luxe label looked into their ad archives, shot yearly by Teller, to pull out images of Kate Moss, Stephanie Seymour (autumn 2001), M.I.A. (spring 2009) and Lisa Marie Presley (autumn 2000).
Each deck is limited to only 100 of each, priced $69 USD - and are available in selected Marc Jacobs stores in the US now, London and Europe coming very soon.
The designer deck is nothing new: Louis Vuitton released theirs last year for a $8250 price tag; New York's Supreme worked with acclaimed photographer Marilyn Minter in 2008 for stunning results; Alien Workshop released a deck series with work by iconic New York pop artist Andy Warhol earlier this year; and Girl Skateboards made decks featuring legendary 70s female frontwomen - released in September this year - my fave so far.
Although, if Marc Jacobs start putting semi naked male models on their decks rather than ladies, maybe I could be persuaded to change my first choice...
