Poison The Well and teen pop? An odd combo that should sound hideous, but under the guidance of the hardcore kings former guitarist, Derek E Miller, emerges something strangely stunning - with Alexis Krauss, of Ruby Blue taking vocal duty in Sleigh Bells - on tour in the UK this week....
Described as 'an American noise pop music duo' the tow made their live debut at the CMJ Music Marathon in October 2009. Sleigh Bells hit a nerver and were embraced by both the industry and blogosphere hype machine, signing first to New York based indie Mom + Pop.
After online love from The Guardian and Pitchfork, first single Tell Em was released as a free download in April 2010. Debut album Treats quickly followed exclusively on iTunes - after gaining fans in Spike Jonze and M.I.A - who signed Sleigh Bells to her label NEET recordings worldwide.
Currently on tour with M.I.A they're also playing headline slots, although London and Brighton have sold out. Be warned: the blog geeks were right - Sleigh Bells have taken Crystal Castles' angsty, goth pop, given it a polish, layered on sme hooks and are just waiting to go huge.
