The Roxy ripper beat Coco Ho with a 16 point wave to 8.86 in the finals to take gold - her second in a row after three years without a win. And now she sits at the top of the Women's leader board after the third event with 26, 500 points total - although Carissa Moore is close behind with just a 500 point gap.

"It means absolutely the world I'm just so stoked to get a win New Zealand. I loved coming here last year and I got the runner-up and making the final again I was just happy with that performance," Fitzgibbons told organisers.

"To take the win is just extra special. It reminds me of home the countryside meets the sea vibe. To have my best friends here and my friends on the tour chair me up the beach just means so much."
