Annie Clark is the captivating multi instrumentalist visionary otherwise known as St Vincent. Already a darling of the New York indie scene, this 29-year-old singer songwriter has hit the mainstream with her third critically acclaimed album Strange Mercy - out now.
Her deceptive doll face hides a dark creativity, as Annie's music is more Lynch-like cinema, cathartic poems for lyrics over intricate guitar loops and big dollop of quirk. And, just as her attention to technical detail is finely tuned, she's fast becoming a style icon with her vintage geek chic - check her Spin cover - ala a more feminine PJ Harvey. (You may have heard her on Twilight: New Moon too, as she partnered with the brilliant Bon Iver for a soundtrack song).
Fresh from a jaw dropping show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London (gutted to miss this) St Vincent is this week's Madame of Music Club. Be prepared for some inspiration overload.
