Roxy Jam Biarritz 2010 longboard contest: intro & day 1 videos 1 & 2

The world's biggest longboard event - the Roxy Jam Biarritz - took place earlier this month in the beautiful basque country city, once more attracting the biggest names in women's old and new school log surfing. From Roxy pin up Kassia Meador, and 09 champion Jen Smith, to Britain's own Candice O'Donnell, local Coline Menard, Kelia Moniz, Cori Schumacher, Joy Monohan plus loads more, it was another festival of female surfing, art and music.

ASP announce 2010 World Tour schedule & one ranking system

After a dramatic 2009 - from a super tight men's title race, Stephanie Gilmore winning the Championship for a third time, the effect of the economy, to record breaking conditions to wrap up the season - the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) have announced 2010's schedule, including major new events, date shifts and a brand new One Ranking structure.

Best young surfers gather in the Gold Coast to win the Billabong ASP World Junior Champs Title

Billabong Asp World Juniors surf championship: will Coco Ho win the title?

The first surf competition of 2009 is underway on the Gold Coast, Australia as the Billabong ASP World Junior Champs kicked off at the weekend. Now on day three, so far the opening rounds have thrown up some interesting results.

With the best young surfers from across the globe representing, and the ASP World Junior Title up for grabs the likes of Coco Ho, Laura Enever, Leila Hurst, Bethany Hamilton, Tyler Wright and Courtney Conlogue have been riding hard - although not enough to beat New Zealand fave Paige Hareb who's currently tipped to win the title.

2009 Women's ASP World Tour Surfers announced

Stephanie Gilmore 2008 ASP World Tour Champion and 2009 Surfers announced

After a controversial and crammed 2008 ASP World Tour - won by Aussie superstar Stephanie Gilmore for the second year in a row, and who could forget the Carissa Moore, Coco Ho and Layne Beachley incident - the 2009 line up is now confirmed.

With four new comers aged 18 and under (including Coco Ho and Sally Fitzgibbons), 2009 should be an exciting year - marking a new age for women in action sports as a whole.

Stephanie Gilmore is new Women's ASP World Champion

A huge round of applause for Miss Stephanie Gilmore please: Steph, aka 'Happy Gilmore', won her second consecutive ASP Women's World Tour Champion Title yesterday, after firing into first place at the Roxy Pro, Sunset Beach in Hawaii. After winning her first Championship at just 19 - the first ever surfer to win such an accolade in their rookie year - the Syndey, Australia, local bounced back to beat Sofia Mulanovich, Silvana Lima and Layne Beachley to win the most prestigious prize in women's surfing once again.
