Why we love Lush shampoo bars: the genius idea that saves plastic and cash

LushSolidShampoos.jpg
Bottled shampoo is mainly water and plastic. While you may choose organic or toxic-free, while it's housed in a container made from oil - even if it is recycled - one of the most persistent polluting materials on our planet, what's the point?

This is why Lush's shampoo bars are genius: solids of follicle goodness, minus the H2O and oil-based packaging. They last forever so save you cash, and for every 500 000 shampoo bars sold 1.5 million bottles are saved - aka sent to landfill or ending up in our oceans - and carbon emissions massively cut.

Find out more from Kate Hind, on the Lush green team, on why bottles are bonkers...

Pro surfer & Philips Satin Perfect spokeswoman Hannah Harding's travel tips

hannah-harding_01.jpg

Warm weather surfing means ditching the 5mm wetsuits, fishermen jumpers and tights to sun our pasty pins and maybe even swap the neoprene for boardies and rashvest (UK: if we're lucky!).

We chatted to her for her best travel, packing and beauty tips, plus why her Philips Satin Perfect means less stubble - and much more surfing....

I ♥ Weleda's Rosemary Hair Lotion: natural remedy for stressed surf & snow tresses

Rosemary Hair Lotion.jpg
Winters frozen by powder, then frazzled by sea salt and sun in the summer, my hair's a fragile mess. Leave in conditioners and oodles of serum do help, but it'd be nice to find something more natural than the synthetic products I drench my barnet in to prevent split ends and keep it shiny.

Weleda have the answer: Weleda's Rosemary Hair Lotion is loaded with the pungent herb for a  a light weight liquid conditioning hair oil, that both moisturises the hair and scalp. It also has anti-fungal (i.e. dandruff!) properties - good for keeping away any sea born bacteria too and has a real 'vintage-find' feel.
