Outside Exposure Special: Iconic Surfers

High end US outdoorsy magazine Outside have commissioned a stunning special for their Exposure portrait on pro surfers - in the current print issue and now online.

Like bronze supreme beings, these striking images feature Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Sofia Mulanovich, Mick Fanning, Julian Wilson (above) and more, immortalised in monochrome.

Of the Tiger: A Year in Light by Rachel Bardin

A brilliant idea, surf photographer, writer and film maker Rachel Bardin has compiled her favourite bits of last year into a gorgeous video edit - suitably titled Of the Tiger:

'A year in light, of seas and seasons. 
Looking back at these images makes me thankful for the places I've experienced and the friends I've gotten to film and surf with.'

VBS Hi Shredability: Grain surfboards 1 of 2

Jake Burghart of VBS headed to Northern Maine with Kassia Meador, Scotty Stopnik and Hi Seas filmmaker Mikey DeTemple, invited by Grain Surfboards - shapers of beautiful boards made from local wood - to make boards, eat lobster and ride mellow waves. 
Slowly distancing themselves from the dark, grimy tone of sister mag Vice, VBS has grown up: with intelligent reportage and brilliant action sports TV. Hi Shredability is their surf series, which swaps pro hype for inspiring individuals: 'surfers who are doing things we like'.
