Nikita YouTube contest announced!

Iceland is one of the craziest, but coolest places on Earth, so I was pretty excited to hear about Nikita's latest competition. The girl's only streetwear brand are giving one lucky lady the chance to visit the Arctic island, hang out with the crew behind the brand, (including foundr Heida), shred a glacier and pick up loads of Nikita freebies.
All you have to do is to make a mini snowboard movie - maximum 30 seconds long and 6 MB per clip - which will be uploaded to Nikita's YouTube Contest site, MySpace and website section 'Whazz Up.'
Fancy having a go? Then click HERE for further details on how to enter....

Roxy Podcast #24: Utah street rail hunt..
Sometimes, when there's no fresh pow, and you're bored of the park, only a hard-to-find challenge is all that can quench your snowboard thirst. On the streets of Utah, Basa Stevulova and Tania Detomas experienced exactly that when they go hunting for rails... and in a session that ends up being tougher than planned.

How to do a backside air in the half pipe
Another week, another Roxy Podcast. This time Lesley McKenna takes us through how to do a backside air in the pipe, with her very comprehensive instructions (unusual for a snowboard how-to) that should leave even pipe newbies with a clear idea of how to do this trick. Actually doing it though, well, that's another matter entirely!

Surfing Honolua Bay with Jessie Miley-Dyer
Honolua Bay, where the Billabong Pro Maui is currently taking place, is a tricky break to surf. Luckily, should you be the jammy one who's jetting off to Hawaii shortly, The Association of Surfing Professionals and last year's champ Jessi Miley-Dyer have penned a guide to surfing there...
Paddle outs: Getting out is a tiny bit of a mission because you have to scale the cliff to get down to the water and the track is muddy and slippery, especially when it rains. There are actually two spots: the beach, which can be the easiest, especially if it’s small or inconsistent, and another track where you can jump off the side of the rocks at the point. I personally like paddling off the beach because I’m a little uncool and jumping off rocks can be tricky.
Which waves to take: It sounds a little cliché, but every wave at Honolua is so good, it really doesn’t mater which one you decide to go. The reef here is really even and breaks into a deep channel so you rarely get closeouts. I think it’s really just waiting for the biggest one you can get off either the crowd or your opponent...
