The UK's biggest surf festival, the Relentless Boardmasters, is less than two weeks away - and we're stoked. The best event of the summer from August 3 to 5 sees the finest homegrown talent in BMX and skate head down to Newquay, Cornwall to join the surfers for a week of sessions, sun, sea and sounds - thanks to the Watergate Bay stages on Friday and Saturday.

VIP camping has already sold out, but there may still be a chance for you to sleep under the stars celeb style - thanks to awesome new competition site Miss Win It. But hurry up - there's just 4 days left!!

Who needs a board? Australian photographer Ryan Heywood doesn't: he's captured the raw thrill of riding / being pummeled by the ocean's energy in his online zine Bodysurf. Beautifully simple, it's unpretentious H2O happiness, which has me itching to get wet... [more images after the jump

Website of the week: The Side Project - made over

the Side project website week skateboard

I'm resurrecting the long neglected Website Of the Week feature on Nollie, starting with another Lazurus-like story: the relaunched The Side Project.

Dedicated to female skating, building a community and promoting the sport, the site was originally redesigned in September - but was hacked in early November, with owner/filmer/photographer/skater Lisa Whitaker losing everything. But, it's now back, with a clean design, added videos and galleries, plus the original news, interviews, blog and forum features.

Website of the week: Skatergirl.co.uk

Skatergirl_new_website

All female skateboard website Skatergirl.co.uk now has daily updated posts, videos and insider event reviews from the likes of All Girl Skate Jam organiser Jenna Selby. Ignore the unlucky choice of layout (twitter chose the same Bluebird theme); it's well informed, passionate, with an active community of ladies who love to roll.

And you don't have have offspring to get involved - the event is open to all women, young and old and aims to 'shred stereotups, stay fit and add dose of danger to our mini van existence.'

Check out myspace.com/skateboardmoms for more info. Love it.

Fernie explored on Powderroom

Fernie_trees

I'm getting serious snow envy while I type this as I've just read about an epic snowboard trip to Fernie, one of Canada's finest resorts, by Powderroom.net editor Lucie McLean on the site.

In depth and honest, she perfectly captures both her two week holiday with fellow female riders, but also packs in useful resort information - from accounts of the terrain parks, back-country areas, the atmosphere, apres options and other amusing anecdotes. The best women's snowboard website in the world by far, it's highly recommended reading, wether you're planning a trip to Canada or just looking for an easy afternoon distraction...
